The Story of the Art

Heritage Sports Art and www.HeritageSportsArt.com were created to sell 1500 original watercolor paintings of historic sports uniforms that were used in the creation of hundreds of thousands of licensed sports products that have been sold across North America. In 2012 the site will also sell 300+ original pen and ink drawings of aerial views of ballparks, stadiums and arenas that were also used on tens of thousands of products.

In short, we are selling famous, original artwork of sports uniforms.

Between 1993 and 2010 Scott Sillcox owned a Toronto-based company called Maple Leaf Productions. Maple Leaf Productions was licensed by the NFL, MLB and NHL (and the NCAA through a partner company) to produce a variety of products that celebrated the history and evolution of team uniforms and stadiums. In the process, Scott Sillcox and Maple Leaf Productions became recognized as one of North America’s leading authorities on the history of NFL, MLB, NHL and NCAA team uniforms, ballparks, stadiums and arenas.

A select handful of artists worked with Maple Leaf Productions over a period of more than twelve years and during this time created literally one of the largest collections of original sports art in the world – we have yet to find a larger collection. Over 1500 uniforms were painstakingly painted in watercolor by a team of artists, principally consisting of Tino Paolini, Nola McConnan and Bill Band. Another 300+ aerial view images of ballparks, stadiums and arenas were meticulously hand drawn in pen and ink by Nola McConnan. The research that went into the creation of these original pieces of art was immense – it was a labor of love that took the better part of a decade.

For information on the artists, please see "About the Artists".

The original watercolor paintings, as well as the pen and ink drawings, are owned by the artists. In 2010 the artists jointly decided to make many of their original pieces of art available for sale to sports fans and art collectors. To this end they asked Scott Sillcox to help them promote and sell this remarkable collection of original watercolor and pen and ink art. Thus Heritage Sports Art and www.HeritageSportsArt.com were created as a joint venture between Scott Sillcox, Nola McConnan, Tino Paolini and Bill Band.

Over the last dozen or more years, the artwork created by these artists has grown increasingly famous. What do we mean by “famous artwork”? We mean that this is artwork that has been, and still is, used on a huge variety of products that have been sold around the world – posters, clocks, playing cards, fridge magnets, mouse pads, postcards, coffee mugs, mirrors and more – this remarkable artwork has been seen on literally hundreds of thousands of products.

See below for just some of the products sold across North America which have used images of the original artwork that is being sold by Heritage Sports Art. By purchasing your very own original piece of this original artwork, you will own the one and only piece – a famous piece of art that has been seen on thousands of products sold across North America.

The products that these images appear on, especially the posters, can be seen in the offices of almost every NFL, MLB and NHL team, as well as the offices of many team owners and the league commissioners. And now that you know what you’re looking for, you’ll be surprised by how often you will see products with these images on TV, in movies, on the internet and in the various Halls Of Fame.

The opportunity presented by Heritage Sports Art is for you to own one of these famous original pieces of art or to purchase one as a very special gift for someone you love. Take, for instance, the evolution of the Denver Broncos (NFL) uniform – only thirteen pieces of colorful, detailed original Broncos artwork were created, each one showing a different uniform from a different year in the Broncos’ history. These thirteen pieces of original Denver Broncos art, the same artwork that has been used to create tens of thousands of Denver Broncos products, are now being offered for sale by artist Nola McConnan through Heritage Sports Art. And when one of these thirteen pieces of original watercolor art is sold, that’s it, it is sold out.

So if you have a favorite team or a favorite uniform, please act now because while there are hundreds of thousands of Denver Broncos fans, there are only thirteen pieces of original art are available for sale – and only thirteen Broncos fans will be able to own one of these pieces of original watercolor art.
