Some History
1926-27 The Toronto Maple Leafs actually started out life as the Toronto Blue Shirts, then they became the Toronto Arenas (can anyone find a true photograph of this jersey and not just the sweater-coat worn for team pictures? If so, contacts us at ssillcox@rogers.com and we'd love to work with you!), then they became the St. Patricks. The St. Pats were the team Conn Smythe and partners bought in 1927 and almost immediately changed to become the Toronto Maple Leafs. The blue and white of the Leafs is in honor of Smythe's alma mater - the University of Toronto - and the new Maple Leaf logo closely resembles the University of Toronto Blues logo of the teens and early twenties.
