This original, one-of-a-kind watercolor painting of the 1962 Minnesota Vikings uniform is the original artwork that was used in the creation of this Minnesota Vikings uniform evolution print and tens of thousands of other Minnesota Vikings products that have been sold across North America. This original piece of art was painted by artist Bill Band for Maple Leaf Productions Ltd.
Some History
Another troubled year for Minnesota as they go 2-11-1. The opposition, although usually victorious after a clash with the Vikings, rarely got excited when faced with the task of playing them. Minnesota's belligerent playing style often left opponents injured, or very tender weeks later. At least this was a small consolation for fans, who had to endure some of the coldest weather imaginable while watching games from frigid Metropolitan Stadium.The 62 road jersey shown here, almost an exact inverse of the 1961 home jersey, showcases purple numbers with yellow trim. What seems to be missing from the dark, home version is the thin, yellow trim around the sleeve striping in this white jersey the sleeve stripes are simply purple on white.
